There are a lot of things in Genshin Impact that just don't add up. From the strange origins of the archons to the intentions of some of the game's more suspicious vision bearers. With all the strange lore that's coming out about Sumeru, players have begun to question who Baizhu really is.

Baizhu is not the current Dendro archon, as she is actually residing in Sumeru and is well known by its people. The current Dendro archon's name is Kusanali, and they took over after the former archon was killed in the battle of Khaenri'ah.

There are many theories on Reddit (see post via u/YouGotSnubbed) and YouTube (video via IslandXD) that claim that Baizhu is actually the God of the Woods, and that he snuck off after surviving the Cataclysm. It's true that Baizhu is in a weak state, and that he has a strange infatuation with immortality, giving further evidence to this theory.

He also seems to have a fake personality, as noted by Qiqi's line about Baizhu not being sincere when he says he loves her. Changsheng is also a bit suspect, as it's been shown that archons often have close relationships with supernatural beings.

Many users also believe that the story told in the Viridescent Venerer artifact descriptions are about Baizhu. Players believe that he was the blind boy in the story, partly because he is one of the only characters to wear glasses in the game.
